The defense attorney on TV says the bicyclist was trying to run over the officer. ...........How many steps do you have to take to be in the way of the cyclist? If that was a wanted man, why wasn't the other officer in on the bust? Looks bad.

Read about this in Newsday and unfortunately the LEO was a rookie and has been suspended and IAD is investigating. Like I said in a prior post it appeared to me that they were both looking for a suspect.

I agree with Boone. They were looking for that guy. Read one of the other comments about the guy being wanted for a strong arm. If they guy was a felon, I say great job!

You people are jumping to conclutions. It sure looked to me like the police were looking for someone specific. I bet this guy was being a problem earlier and these two cops were told to be on the lookout for him.
Both cops went after the same guy and the guy tried to get away from the cops. Looks good to me, but of course I am a trained observer

right before impact someone is saying "get off the road....(inaudible)" Wondering if it's the officer speaking to the bicyclist or the bicyclist taunting something to the officer causing the officer's reaction.

regardless of what really happened, people shouldn't jump to conclusions. It also looks like, from the motion of the bike and the rider, that the PO grabbed the handlebar of the bike and the guy more or less fell left because of momentum. However, it does look like the PO pushed him down as well. He definitely got his man. Another thing is that if the PO really wanted to hurt someone on purpose, why did he wait for so many to pass by and then single this guy out, along with his partner. Both walked toward the oncoming guy at the same time. Over all, not the whole picture and obviously posted by someone who wants to add his skewed version of what really happened. The worst part about this is that the media played right along with the poster.

tcabezuela: Actually, I think there's a fair bit of truth in the video too. That rookie used unnecessary force.

dolphfan72, sorry buddy, your pal gave you the wrong info on that situation, the cyclist has no priors or was witnessed to commit any offenses, it was just plain stupidity on the officer's part & i do defend officers when called for, shame is that the nypd has said it was a random act not needed & the officer had no reason but to bully the rider, let's hope this does not change the public's view of police officers who will sacrifice their own lifes to save another, god bless all officers. note: charges against the cyclist were dropped & now he seeks a lawsuit !! this is from the ny post & the ny daily news.
