still. that looks pretty bad.
on the other hand i hate these bike pedaling tree huggers that clog up the streets on NYC. fucking up traffic all over the place.

This one is going to be gone over and over. I think that the video is very damaging to the officer on the face value. I would however like to know the "Rest of the Story".

If I'm not mistaken, the guy the officer hit was just involved in an assault on a juvenile, who was also in the bike parade, and the suspect was trying to flee using the bike parade as cover.

I'll wait for the facts to come out before I make a final decision about the Officers actions. It wouldn't be fair to make a decision based on this short film clip. If the Officer was just out to hurt someone, a lot of bicyclist were a lot closer to him than the guy he took out. I would think that the Officer has a very specific reason for the choice he made.

Unless you were there, or if for some other reason you know the ENTIRE story, then it is probably not a good idea to judge the officer based SOLELY on what is seen on this video. I'll admit...it does look bad on face value. HOWEVER I was NOT there and I DO NOT know the rest of the story. As a result, I reserve judgement until "the rest of the story" is known. I don't believe someone should judge a police officers actions based on what is seen on a very short partial video with no background what-so-ever as to who, what, when, where and why it happened! Let's give our brother officer the benefit of the doubt until we know everything. We should be the first people outraged that this one sided video has surfaced making what could be, for all intents and purposes, a righteous bust look bad! Trying the officer in the court of public opinion without all the evidence is just plain wrong!

I think it is clear that the Officer was looking for someone, found him and then took him down. Without knowing the rest of the details, it is unwise to make any judgement on if his actions were reasonable.

To all those who thank a video shows the whole story you are wrong. He was looking for someone. Do you think a police officer would risk his job doing that in front of 100's of people for no reason ?
