For those who say that the Deputy needed more range practice, have you ever been shot at? If you haven't you it is easy for you to sit back and arm chair quarterback! So don't be an expert and say what someone else needs to do until you have been in his shoes. Oh yeah, I have to agree with Tystick78. Carmenelectra why don't you find another site to go to, or go set down with a family that has lost a love one in the line of duty and see what they have to say about your leg shot. Or better yet why don't you go to a prison in your area and ask the cold blooded killers about why they didn't just shoot the COP in the leg or arm when he or she got of their car and started firing! YOU ARE ON THE WRONG SITE!
I think I would assign this officer to the range full time. I'm glad he wasn't hurt, but the actor should have been shot as he made his exit from the vehicle with the rifle.
WHY DID HE MISS SO MUCH IF I WERE HIS SUPERVISOR I WOULD SEND HIM TO THE RANGE FOR MORE PRACTICE THOSE MISSES COULD HAVE BEEN HIS LIFE.STILL IAM GLAD HE WAS OK AND THAT HE STOPPED THE SUSPECT
Doesn't surprise me that he missed. I'm sure much was going through his mind at the moment. But I'm sure that if he is ever in that situation again he won't make the same mistake.
Clearly, the guy with the rifle let the cop live. He was comitting suicide by cop, he wasn't trying to kill, otherwise this would be an "officer down" story.
Despite what the bleeding heart liberals say, the problem is not firearms themselves. The problem is stupid people with firearms. Unfortunately, there isn't a way to just ban guns from the stupid ones. And banning guns completely isn't the answer, either. Good job by the officer and glad to see he made it through this dangerous situation okay.
Good job by the officer. He kept his eyes on the suspect at all times, this is important. Don't trust anyone. Also, shoot faster, don't wait, or else if he is good or lucky with that weapon he will hit you with one shot. We don't want to see that... right? Never drop your guard!

Careful with the criticism on shot accuracy. Fine motor skills go out the window when life or death situations occur.
