At first glance it seems like the subject is complying by putting down the rifle. The officer coming around the building sees an additional threat which is the firearm the subject is retrieving from his right back area.

This is a perfect example of how video can actually hinder an investigation. Only after close srutinty do we see the other weapon in the right hand, but the media playing this would play that down. The lines of reality get blurred and suddenly and completely righteous shooting becomes a media circus.

Pretty critical of a brother officers posting, guys. Training Vid or not, it should make all of us "authorities" think. Mental preparedness is underrated. Be safe brothers and sisters.

Yea no doubt a training video but none the less a good scenario teaching great tactics by your back up officer and always goes to show that there can be more then 1 threat in play. Also sure an attorney could argue that he was reaching for the other to put it down BUT the officer testifies that he saw an additional threat being brought into play without warning from the suspect and a split second decision was made to end the threat by shooting would 99.99% clear both officers of any WRONG DOING. He was in fear for his & partners life and that's why he shot, End of Story !
