Praise God for citizens doing their part to helping out, this could have quite possibly had a very bad ending indeed.

I wish things like that would happen more often, citizens helping us that is, but for the most part, they still have to work on helping themselves first. Being proactive in their own communities and such.

Just to add, the good samaritans were honored by the police chief.

Glad to hear the officer is ok. I have nothing but respect for those individuals who had the guts to take care of business - who knows, may have saved the officer's life. Great job!

I love it when the good guys come to help us out like that. Wish that this was common instead of being so rare it makes the news. Glad the Officer is okay as that is a very frightening situation to occur to any officer.

Lucky for him!!! Wouldn't happen in Philly by that's awsome to hear citizens helping an officer in need. I've been in fights alone with suspects while citizens stood by as if they were watching a cage fight on tv.

Another example of never knowing what your "suspicious person" is up to or capable of. Keep that radar on at all times! How said of a state is our society that citizens coming to the aid of the lawman is an anomaly? We are merely the "pointy end" of the citizenry, and sometimes the tip is broken or dulled; it is then that the heft of the weapon is truly brought to bear. Good job subduing the suspect, regular joes!

Next time the citizens get to come to Tennessee have them look me up and I'll be honored to take them out to dinner. I'm glad the Officer is doing alright. www.CODE-5000.com
