A First Hand Look At National Police Week 2011
PoliceLink
National Police Week (May 9-15) is a celebration of our nation’s law enforcement officials, and remembers those who lost their lives in the line of duty. Thousands of people commemorated the event in Washington D.C., with memorial services to fallen comrades, and ceremonies recognizing local heroes.
PoliceLink’s very own kweikman went out to Washington D.C. to cover Police Week, and capture its memorable moments.
We would like to give a special thank you to C.O.P.S. (Concerns of Police Survivors) for hosting such a special event for the law enforcement community.

Thank You Kendra for your Hard work and Enthusiam. A big thanks for allowing the "layman" to take a look into PW. Two of your Pics stood out. The K9 Memorial was one, as I am a Dog Lover, and the Other was a Memorial with the officers pictures attached. The Stone was enscripted with the saying, "It doesn't matter how these officers died, It's how they Lived". Beautiful!

Had another great Police Week - a huge heartfelt thanks to all the survivors for sharing stories of their loved ones with me. It was also fantastic seeing everyone again. My only hope is that every year the numbers would be less than the year before.

I was there in 1991 when it was dedicated. It was moving then...but I really didn't know anyone on the wall. Now, there are 7 from my department whose names are carved in that granite. It meant a lot to me in 1991....it means a whole lot more now.
No suprtrkr, it shouldn't be that big...but it is. And if you'll notice, there is lots of room to add names....sad...but true. Thanks for the photos.
