I have been in law enforcement as a deputy sheriff ending in a gun shot wound in the head resulting in not qualifying for LEO careers any longer. My career path went to bail bonds agencies, body guarding movie stars along with armed guard jobs. My enjoyment is to allow the next generation for the careers that are in need for us natural born warriors. We will endure and create the impossible for all of us in honor (showing self-humility) God Bless.

I am from San Antonio, but work for the Bexar County Sheriff's Office, SAPD is a good department, but some the officers seem to have the attitude that there Sh!t don't stink. The Deputy Sheriff's are look down upon by some of the PD guys, but not all, many started with the County first, and know that we deal with the same scum they do, we are just lower paid. We pollice the whole county, they are only within city limits. I have many friends in the PD and they agree that all Law Enforcement Officers should respect and support each other as equals.

One important criteria that was not factored in - average commute time for police officers. During my trip to the Oakland funeral last year, I met many officers whose commute was two hours one way. It made my 40-minute one way commute seem much better.

New admin changes are sure to put DPD at the top in coming years. The latest census also shows Denvers population exceeding 700,000. Even with the population boom over the last 10 years, And crime still on the rise (as to be expected) Denver still remains one of the safest cities for cities of the same size, to raise a family. The work is steady, sometimes very busy, but very effective. This is due to the great cops we have in Denver and the surrounding area's (where I worked).

Wow..Las Vegas didn't even make the list. I know it has a high unemployment rate, but starting salary is $52k the first year and about $60k the second year on up. The cost of living is above average but not like CA or NY.

Oakland PD is the place to be! Lots of great cops, real police work and starting pay of $80,000 a year.
