Town of Orange VA is the worst you are going to find. The pay is low and the chief likes to fire a new office every 6 months. If you are not best friend with him or his Sgt Him and Her will fire you. In the past 4 year they have hired and fired 10 Officers and the dept is only 8 officer strong. Stay clear and save your LE job path.

Stay far away from Montgomery County MD. You can live in a tar paper shack on what you make here. See, I'm starting the worst 10 list already.

Des Moines made the list? I'm impressed!!! Their starting pay listed in the paper was about $43,000 last year.

I think this list compares more of starting pay, to job security and cost of living.

I think they should compile a list after talking to Police Officers. I bet you would get a little different results than what the experts say.
