Ten Greatest American Police Patrol Cars
Matt Hardigree | Jalopnik
10. International Paddy Wagon (Baltimore)
Though America may be the the country that nurtures the individual, we sure like to get arrested in groups. That’s where the paddy wagon comes in handy. Part truck, part temporary jail, there have been a lot of them throughout the history of American law enforcement. This 1947 International wagon is a particularly beautiful example and a reminder of International’s long commercial history in America. That cop is totally riding the wagon. I started out driving the infamous Dodge Diplomats in 1985 - not the greatest car in the world but I still have fond memories of them. Hard to believe they did not mention the last of the Caprices in 1996 with the LT1 engine - probably one of the finest ever built.

I thought an honorable mention might be the Chevy Caprice with the Corvette LTI engine. I never drove one, but I'm told they would go like nothing else!

I like the fact in Honolulu we have subsidized vehicles where you can purchase your own car when you have the senority to make motor and from the approved list. The department fits it out with a removable dome light and siren. They also provide limit gas as well. Other than that they have no markings and they have some unique cars and suv's. Camaros, Chargers and the Chrysler 300 along with the toyota 4 runners are the most popular.
