Posted over 5 years ago Is anyone here a mounted officer? I have seen a lot of k9 posts but haven't noticed anybody talking about mounted patrol. |

| Posted about 5 years ago I think they are far and few between anymore, though in Colorado, we have the Colorado Mounted Rangers and I think the majority of the sheriff's agencies maintain posse's which due horseback patrol at community events and with search & rescue missions. Not sure if we have too many as members of PL though. |

| Posted about 5 years ago Honestly I am not an officer but I do want to be one someday. The reason I asked this question was I guess I kind-of wanted to know what it was like, so to answer Sheepdog267's question, I don't know what the difference is supposed to be. |

| Posted about 5 years ago The S.O. over in RPL's area has a Sheriff's Posse which is a mounted unit. They are all volunteers and used mostly for search and rescue in remote areas and parades. |
