It's amazing what some people post on Myspace, Facebook, and Youtube. I've viewed gang member profiles, underage drinking parties, prostitutes in dormitories, and so on.. Is there anyone with an interesting collar using these sites?

An upstate NY PD used a picture off of a MySpace profile of a perp they knew to get a gun collar. For the most part you're not going to get anything more then raw information trolling social networking sites. But you can use that information to further investigations. Nobody is going to get a stellar bust taking info from online profiles, the anonymity of the internet lets you be whoever you want to be online, doesn't mean it's true.

Myspace was used by my Highschool dean to find pictures of underage drinking. All people in the pictures were suspended and what not. Somehow they were able to see the private profiles. They must have done some hacking. lol.

I am an Explorer Post advisor at our agency. I haven't made any arrests off of MySpace, but have used it to assist during an internal investigation of one of our Explorers that eventually led to his dismissal from the program (underage drinking / misrepresenting himself as a Deputy Sheriff / conduct unbecoming...)
