Posted almost 6 years ago I am currently on Active duty in the Navy and i was told that when you become a Peace Officer you are authorized to wear your military ribbons on your uniform. IS this correct cause i have never heard of it. please shed some light on this. |

| Posted almost 6 years ago I've never heard about it or seen it done. It is not allowed in the NYPD (although I think it should be allowed, as long as they don't get in the way). Obviously you can't wear ribbons around your neck for safety reasons, but I don't see why you can not wear medals above your shield or on the opposite side of your shield. Every department has different rules. Check with the department that you plan to join. |

| Posted almost 6 years ago Depends on the agency. Ours allows a branch service pin on the shirt or vest cover. |

| Posted almost 6 years ago The only medals that can be worn on the Kentucky State Police uniforms are Our own awards. A couple of years ago I got the IACP Trooper of the Year award for the South region, and they didn't want me to me the award pin either. I think if it's a small pin, award bar or pin, then you should be able to wear it, and be proud of it as well. All agencies are different. I love each day like its my last! Why do we are have to be so serious? |
