Gina, you start off as a technician or even as a civilian CSI, once you have sufficient training and experience you can take a certification examination given by a professional organization, in the case of fingerprints, that would probably be the International Association of Identification. There are a lot of places to start, look for forensic programs at your local colleges you need a basis before you can specialize.
