I will start for the Portland Police Bureau Aug. 2nd after initially applying for their records division last Sept! It took 7 months to finish the background investigation. I have a ridiculous number of family members so this likely slowed the process down. I just want applicants to know that I was approved WITH one infraction as a juvenile, admitted drug use, and a husband who has a criminal history. What worked for me, I'm sure was the Bachelors degree in CJ, volunteer work for the DA's office and JDH, COMPLETE honesty and transparency (even when it sounded awful, and trust me IT DID), and most importantly--YEARS between youthful indiscretions for both me and my husband. I'm so relieved! Granted, this is for the records division, not as an LEO, but the scrutiny is almost just as bad as if I were applying to be an officer.

Congrats on your appointment. Records div. is very important and we call our lady that does this the brains and backbone of our Dept. Good luck.

It has been years since she screwed up and she owned it and admitted her transgressions. Good job young lady.
