PoliceLink Officer Down Remembers...

Police Officer Gregg Maloney
Plymouth Police Department

Massachusetts
End of Watch: Tuesday, April 1, 2014

Age: 43
Tour: 17 Years
Badge #: Not Available

Cause: Motorcycle Accident
Incident Date: April 1, 2014
Weapon: Not Applicable
Suspect: Not Applicable

Officer Maloney was killed in a motorcycle crash on Samoset Street, near Pilgrim Trail, while on patrol with another motor officer at approximately 3:00 pm. He was on duty at the time, traveling westbound on Samoset when he was somehow knocked off his motorcycle. The motorcycle came to a rest approximately one-quarter mile down the road.

“There was no obvious reason for the bike to go down,” Chief Botieri said Tuesday night. “There was no other vehicles involved.”

Officer Maloney was in serious condition when he was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth. He was later transported by medical helicopter to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, where he succumbed to his injuries a short time later.

State Police are assisting with the crash investigation.

Fellow officers escorted Officer Maloney’s body from the hospital to the Medical Examiner’s office. Many local departments lined the street to salute the fallen officer. Officer Maloney joined the motorcycle unit in 2009.

He is survived by his wife and two teenaged sons.

God comfort the family and friends of Officer Gregg Maloney.  Bless them and keep them well.

Aim at the high mark and you will hit it. No, not the first time, not the second time and maybe not the third. But keep on aiming and keep on shooting for only practice will make you perfect. Finally you'll hit the bull's-eye of success.

Rest in peace Ofcr. Maloney. I'll keep you, your family, friends and co-workers in my thoughts and prayers.
