I am currently enlisting and my mos require a security clearance.  I only mentioned 3 out of 8 tickets on my NJ driving record, all fines paid no warrants.  will they find out and will it affect my clearance?

Why did you think it necessary to lie (omit information) regarding the tickets?  If they were no big deal, and you paid the fines...

Rather than demonstrating honesty and integrity, at the small price of some temporary personal embarassment, you decided to show to what lengths you'll go to cover up even a minor transgression.

Whether they find out or not will depend on how thorough your background investigators are... And when they find out could make the situation that much more embarassing.

Would you rather they said, "sorry, your not right for the job" now or after you've expended blood/sweat/tears during training.

Would you rather receive the rejection letter in the privacy of your home, or with your entire recruit class watching as a spit-n-polished drill instructor yells for you to get to his office with your hat and books in tow?

My advice?  Address it now while you can and let the chips fall where they may.

What were the traffic tickets for? I am guessing at least one is for DWI. Why lie?

DWI.

Why lie?

You rhymed!

Aim at the high mark and you will hit it. No, not the first time, not the second time and maybe not the third. But keep on aiming and keep on shooting for only practice will make you perfect. Finally you'll hit the bull's-eye of success.

Full disclosure on your part would have been best. If you are found out and don't get hired, it'll be your fault for deliberately omitting the truth. It's like hitting your thumb with a hammer; the only one you can blame is yourself   ..........
