| Posted almost 6 years ago Don't know. Only a Dr can tell you that. It may or may not be a disqualifying medical condition. What happens if you miss your medication? Do you become a danger to yourself or anyone? Do you lose sense of reality? These are questions only you and your Doc can answer my friend. |

| Posted almost 6 years ago what little i do know about schizoaffective disorder is enough to know that if you really want to do for you;re fellow man then do not get into law enforcement.. in my state you cannot own a gun if you have been diagnosed with those types of disorders..........if you're doctor knows anything he/she should have told you that. |

| Posted almost 6 years ago if you can, i would like to know how old you are now and when they discovered the first symptom. . correct me if im wrong it has been about 8 years since i had to talk with a person with that type of condition, but there is no cure, just treatment. you might not be able to become a cop but you might be able to help the cops understand how to deal with someone with that type if condition. |

| Posted almost 6 years ago disqualifying medical conditions are different by each department in my area. It would be best to ask some of your local departments, or your local academy. Best of luck. |

| Posted almost 6 years ago Best idea is to ask a recruiter at the LEO agency you are interested in. I can tell you that schizoaffective disorder would keep you from most federal LE jobs. | Posted almost 6 years ago Ok, I've heard of schizophrenic, but not schizoaffective. Is there a difference? "It would be better for one to have a stone tied around their neck and thrown into the sea, than to cause a child to stumble." "Well-behaved women rarely make history" |

| Posted almost 6 years ago I just took the CIT class this week. Still hearing voices, stand up, sit down, stand up, sit down....... Very eye opening class, the things people have to deal with on a daily basis on top of the bills, kids, spouse, etc... | Posted almost 6 years ago Yep. The instructor was hilarious and had some great stories. He works for the crisis intervention team in Travis County. Had a facination for chasing imaginary squirrels......it's a long story. "It would be better for one to have a stone tied around their neck and thrown into the sea, than to cause a child to stumble."
