Hi just really wondering how many leo's and dispatchers get their driving force every day to do amazing things to help the community be safer? I believe principles of morality and moral civic duty might be instilled or just be naturally there at a very young age. Am I incorrect? Really respect all leo's and dispatchers and wanted to know their inspiration that motivates them to do amazing things every single day. Is God a factor in it all? Sorry would love a little response :)

Giving a little something back to your community or state.  Preserve my lifestyle peace and prosperity and others while I'm keeping my family and friends safe...

csiguy: I don't know if all leo's intentions are one and the same but from what you said I can only say that is remarkable. That's why you are the good guys. :)

It is not a job, it is a lifestyle. We are driven by a sense of what is right and wrong and to give that back to our community in some small way. Serving one's fellow man is one of life's best virtues.

You can't cure stupid.

Sounds to me like when you were a kid ( your likes and desires) stays in you as an adult. I was always drawing and now I am an artist so it makes sense cops are cops through and through since childhood. It sounds like a mentality, a way of thinking, a way of being. Like someone said in an earlier post- it is a lifestyle. But what is wonderful is finding yourself within that community and meeting like minded individuals. Glad to be on PL! Thanks for all the responses.

I grew up in a rough neighborhood in brooklyn new york, back in the day, you were either a good guy or a bad guy.  I had seen what crime and criminals did to peoples lives and saw the resulting devestation.  Today we sometimes refer to life as either a sheep or a sheepdog and from early on, i knew what i desired, i liked standing up for people who couldn't, wouldn't , or were unable to stand up for themselves.  I became a bad sheepdog.  WOOF.

I got tired of being pulled over all the time so it was easier to join them.  I always had a defined sense of right and wrong growing up and had a strong sense of helping other which started as a volley firefighter, EMT with the local rescue squad and moved into law enforcement. I know you cant protect everybody but when you help somebody there is a personal achievement I feel inside.

mikies place: You said you wanted to stand up for people who couldn't or were unable to stand up for themselves. I totally get that. I don't know why and I have no place in law enforcement but I understand. Thankyou for serving very much. The world needs more folks like you. :)
