It has been a very crazy week down here in the State of South Carolina. This past week we lost 2 officers in the midlands. And today we lost two more. I woke up this morning to find out my former Explorer Adivsor had passed away. He was still on the job at the time of his passing. Sgt Brian Donnelly served with the Greenville County Sheriff's for almost 30yrs. His job was the Crime Prevention Unit along with being the Commander of the Dive Team. Also the Exploring Adivsor. I served 5yrs with the Sergeant as a Cpl Explorer. He taught me so much and a lot of teachings have kept me alive on the street. Sgt Donnelly was highly envolved with National and International Crime Prevention. He fought cancer twice and beat it.

And this evening I learned that a deputy in my department as passed away from cancer. He was a single father and had a couple kids.

This is going to be a very hard week with funerals. I ask prayers for both departments and the ones left behind.

Thanks everyone! It truly has been a hard week. Was just asked yesterday to be apart of my friends pall bearer crew. I am probably going to lose it. Not sure I can make it to the viewing cause I'll probably lose it there too. Plus I have no idea what to say to the wife. The only thing I can think of is just to give her a big hug.

Wow, cannot believe how much a LEO death takes it everything out of you. This was my first LE funeral where the LEO was a great friend and mentor. I was okay during the ceremony at the church, was okay up until the final radio call, the widow who is a reserve deputy within the same department as her husband, laid a rose and saluted the casket. I truly lost it right there. I got to hug the widow afterwards as she went around and gave everyone a big hug. The only words I could think to say was, "call us if you need anything, we are here for you". Couldn't sleep much today.

To those that have gone through this before or multiple times, what to do you do? What are somethings you get back to normal? Thanks!
