Hi everyone,

My name is Justin Trounson and I am a PhD student doing research into stress and adversity in the workplace of police, military and emergency service workers. I hope that the research will help me design better training programs for new recruits in the future. It get involved all you need to do is complete my online survey. It is anonymous, answers are confidential and it takes about 10 minutes to complete. I really need about another 10 police officers to complete the survey so please do me the favour of giving up a little time. If you are willing to participate please respond to this post and I will send you the link to the survey (this site will not allow me to post the weblink).

I really appreciate your help and think you all do an amazing job!

I am more than happy to answer any questions you have too of course.

Thank you, Justin

Hi everyone,

Just got my first few policelink friend requests and passed on the weblink to the survey. I hope that more of you are willing to take the time to link up with me and complete our survey. Again, you guys do an AMAZING job and I believe that this research will lead me being able to develop better training programs for new recruits out there. Hopefully this type of research will help to reduce the prevalence of stress related illness, depression, anxiety and other problems that are way too common in jobs like yours.

Again, thanks for ANY SUPPORT!

Justin

Have you called local agencies and asked?

This site has a policy not to do homework for college students. Contact some local departments and pose your questions. We are a suspicious bunch so reponses may be minimal. You may try google. Google is your friend.

Why is there an identical, pasted, topic under the title of "hi everyone" and the same post placed here? Just wondering.

Thanks for the advice uncledennis1. :) Just to be clear though the research we are conducting is not college homework but a piece of research that will hopefully result in the publication of an academic journal article and form the basis for further research into the area. I will continue to speak with local departments and I understand your point that some individuals might be reluctant to participate. That is totally fine and absolutely within their rights. We are simply offering out the chance to voluntarily participate in the research if any officers feel that it is a good cause, which I feel it is. Again, thanks for taking the time to write back and providing advice, I appreciate it.

Hi Gunns,

Yes I have been in touch with local police and have had many participate in the research. I was just looking to diferent avenues to let people know about the study in case they were also interested in participating. I will keep communicating with local departments for their support. :)

Hi rypete,

Yes sorry that was truly an accident on my behalf! I apologise for that.

Run the web address through TinyURL. You can cut and paste the new URL and then post it in your discussion.

I may be wrong (as I have never written a PhD paper) however, for the sake of research for your academic paper, you may want to keep your research sample generalized to one test sample (one department or your city/county/state) rather than saying "one officer from New York, one officer from Florida, etc. Or trying to generalize that to all officers as a whole). Might be hard to get an accurate representation all areas, as there are both rural and urban representations here, with their own different problem crimes.

Basically what I am saying is keep it simple. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks Sarge! I appreciate it very much. Here is the link to the survey for any that are willing to help out a young researcher and to further research into how to assist police better to manage their workplace adversity.
