Can we get a little background on Cpl Hargis? Is he sick, injured? Deployed?

Thank You for Your Service, Cpl Hargis!

Tim, Cpl. Hargis lost both his legs in Afghanistan. He stepped on an IED while on a mission. Four fellow Rangers were killed in the incident. While at a military hospital he was presented with a Purple Heart. When the award was pinned on him he managed to salute his commanding officer, despite being hooked up to a breathing tube and fighting a doctor to keep his arm down. Everyone had thought that Cpl. Hargis was unconscious. A truly emotional moment. If you Google his name, I'm sure you can find a picture.

** Courtesy of the 75th Rangers FaceBook Page **

Cpl. Joshua Hargis, a Ranger from Company B, 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment,

was severely wounded during a direct action raid against an insurgent compound,

Oct. 6, 2013, in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan. Just a few hours after extensive surgery,

Col. Christopher S. Vanek, Commander of the 75th Ranger Regiment, awarded Hargis the Purple

Heart. After receiving the award, Hargis began to move, surprising everyone in the room

who thought he was still unconscious. The medical staff tried to restrain his right arm,

fearing he would damage his intravenous tubes. Then everyone in the room realized what he

was trying to do. He was trying to salute.
