October 2, 2013.

The National Parks are closed down. So is NASA TV.

The post office was still open.

What else is closed?

I was thinking of those poor people who planned a year to camp and climb in Yosemite and now no one is home.

Personally, I think Criminal Trespass would be justified

Nothing essential is shut down. Media ploy to whip up the masses. This "slimdown" has absolutely 0 effect on most people. Folks are being sent home? They will get back pay when they return. This is the 17th or 18th time we have shut this corruption down and in my opinion, not a moment too soon.

On a much lighter note, how cool was it to see the Honor Flight WW2 veterans take over the WW2 Memorial? That was excellent! Silly government, the Nazi's and Imperial Japan couldn't hold these men of our greatest generation back, what makes you think a silly barrier could?

The bureaucratic mindset hard at work here. Are they smarter than 5th graders? Some friends of mine were going to Acadia Nat'l Park in Maine. Not any more.

So, I'm thinking all of those responsible for the shut down (because they cannot agree) should NOT be paid back pay when the shut down is lifted. They should be required to just do without!!

I am in agreement and I will add a caveat, much like the president has a term limit, the princes and princesses in Congreve should also have them. We need citizen legislators not a permanent ruling class. If people from all walks of life were able to put their ideas on the table for consideration, this lying filthy no good lawyers would be sent home packing. What is funny to me is how much faith people put into lawyers when we know them all to be snakes and ambulance chasers to begin with. Time to take our country back.

Oooooo....not so good.

The thing with the with the Honor Flight is very cool.

This precedes the 'out fishing' notice from the gov-ment but, we know that the Blue Angels and Thunderbirds were grounded because of the 'sequester'.

Uh, tell that to NASCAR and The 49ers. NASCAR had an event in Sonoma County, CA, for a big first-of-the-season event. They hired a few private military aircraft owners and had a flyover anyway.

And so, the Niners had their home opener. Thinking there would be no military aircraft for the traditional flyover, I kept my eyes glued to field activities. However, when it came to the '...o'er the land of the freeeee...." BAM-BAM-BAM!!!!, Three jets did a scream-by on my side of the field. I came unglued. YEAH, that's what I'M talkin' about.

Privately owned military jets.

Americans will find a way when there is no other way. It's in our blood.

From what I have heard federal employees who are deemed "contractors" are not going to be eligible for back pay. Makes it tough for those people. Contractors in the construction industry who are working on federal buildings cannot work because decision makers for these projects are furloughed. These projects could be delayed, resulting in  layoffs.

With regards to what Tim said about legislators not getting back pay. Unfortunately, they are continuing to get their salary despite the shutdown. However, a number of our legislators have done the right thing and surrendered their pay until an agreement has been reached.
