So I've been volunteering as a Reserve Police Officer for over a year now.  Just recently we've had some police positions finally open.  I had to go through the entire hiring process all over again.  At the end of my Oral Board they gave me a brand new department issued uniform shirt but didn't say if I was hired or not.  I didn't want to sound desperate by asking although I was doing back flips in my brain.  I hope they don't think I'm sticking around to volunteer my time if I'm not hired.lol  I've been volunteering over 30 hours a week since June 20 of 2012.  I'm the only Reserve officer who is allowed to ride solo.  I've busted my butt to prove to everyone how bad I want the position.  Can anyone else here relate to my situation or any advice would do!!!!

Yep been there done that and bought a hat. LOL Ask one of your fellow Officers that you are close to and see what they can tell you. Good luck and BTW I been doing this for almost 14 years now after serving 2 as  a Reserve Deputy.

Sounds like your department has a lot of faith in you if you are the only reserve officer riding alone. Keep up the good work, I'll be rooting for you, hoping you get that regular sworn position.

Congrats on getting the new shirt.Maybe when you are hired fulltime they may purchase pants for you so your legs don't get cold.

I joined the reserves a month after my 21st birthday. I rode extra and a few months later I was asked by the chief to put in for full time status. The reserves always had a leg up on outsiders. I didn't get a new shirt however. Why not axe about your status to full time? Send a memo to the chain via the chain of command of course.

Gee Shetland I have never seen a chain run the department.
