 Hi all,

It's nice to (virtually) meet you all:)

A little about me: I'm a stay-at-home mom living in Ohio. One of my sons is 17 and very interested in becoming a cop- and has been since he was a little boy. He's thinking about possibly entering the military police as a first step.

Why I'm here: I'm trying to become acquainted with the whole world of Law Enforcement. Honestly, it scares me because I worry that he'll be put in harm's way...more the military part than the police officer part. I'm also proud of him that he wants to be on the side of the good guys. I know that there are many risks (physical and psychological) in keeping our country safe to the people who do the hard work (LEOs) but I'm hoping to learn a little from this community. Experience goes a long way toward mitigating those risks.

Thanks for being here and allowing me to be here too.

I highly respect all that you do and am grateful for all the ways that you keep our country safe at your own risk.

Good morning JulieHud and welcome to Police Link frome the Show Me state(Missouri).I'm certain the vast majority of us will be willing to assist in any way we can. Many, including I, are armed forces vets It is indeed a good first step toward being a leo,as law enforcement agencies are semi-military organizations.Much good fortune to the young man en re to his endeavors throught his life.....Dave

The military would be good experience. Make sure he signs a contract to be an M.P.

Welcome to Police Link, from another Ohioan. It's only natural for a parent to worry about their child, regardless of where they go in life.

The Military is a great place to start. A bunch of us here are Military Veterans that went on to the Law Enforcement world.
