i pray that you and your family feel an extra measure of God's grace granting peace and  that everything is in hands. That God guide the doctors and nurses as they use their talents to restore this child to a picture of health.

My utmost prayers are on the way.  A ruptured appendix is a serious condition. Very glad she is the hospital.  God speed.

Thank you all for the prayers it is comforting to know how many will pray when its needed so My father in law and I just got back my daughter got out of surgery a little after 900PM and is doing well. She did have  a lot of infected material around her intestines and that was removed. But she has an increased chance of infection which we won't know for a couple of days. She'll be staying at the hospital up to the weekend. Please stay in prayer for no infection to set in. Peace of mind as we are all exhausted now that the adrenaline is coming down. Thank you for the prayers.

Good to learn it went successfully ,brother. You bet I'll remain in prayer.I remember when I first became a minister I was visiting family in Oregon and rushed to the bedside of my thirteen year old Niece for this very purpose.Comfort  to you and all others with you tonight.

I'm going to pose this question to all the other parent / first responders on here am I the only one who gets sick to my stomach knowing I took a job to help people and when that person is your own child and there is nothing you can do but love comfort and pray for them that you feel helpess and angered by the situation??

Oh no,my friend. You're not the only one.I had to rush my three year old son to the nearest hospital,in my cruiser, one night when he stopped breathing. All the previuous training I had was totally lost in a moment.A grand parent, such as yourself in totally emersed in their child/children/family,as it should be.One can either be turned off toward God or have total faith in God and I'n confident that you have total faith in the Lord.At times like this it is natural to feel helpless, but believe me,help is there.

trouttrooper it's soooo hard to stand by helplessly but the docs KNOW what they are doing.  This kind of thing comes up ALL the time.  It's scarey, sure. That is why a prayer group helps.  So...HERE WE ARE!!  Your daughter is going to be fine, I promise you.  I am just so glad your family has a strong father like YOU standing by.  You are there for your daughter and she KNOWS it.  That will speed her healing.

Jay, you are definately not the only one!! I responded years ago to a woman down, unconcious on the sidewalk. When I arrived, it was my Mother. My Dad was kneeling beside her trying to wake her up. It all turned out well, but there was that moment that I felt helpless!!

Prayers for your daughter and your family!!

Thank you for the prayers and encouragement Sierra is doing better is up and walking albeit slowly. Please continue for no infection to set in as this is the primary concern. For everything she is going through at 12 yoa she is a trooper no pun intended. Also thank you to those who shared their own stories I appreciated to hear I'm not the only who has been in this type of situation and helped me to feel encouraged and keep going.

Prayers going up. Also, in response to an earlier comment, when it is your own child or someone you know well, it does effect you differently. I had a coach that was a good friend. He would see all kinds of injuries and it would not bother him. Yes, he would feel bad for them. I was at his house visiting one night and one of his boys got hurt. He was running around in circles panicking. Also, an officer I used to work with, was on patrol one night and another officer's daughter was in a wreck. It freaked him out also since he knew all of the other officer's family real well.

MarlyB says ...

Beautiful!

A big THANK YOU to MarlyB  and a quick update Sierra is doing ok she continues to have fevers off and on and the Doctor's are not  real concerned. BUT She cannot come home until she goes 24 hours without a fever and she just had a sonogram done and are waiting on the results. My father in law was able to get us a room at the Fisher house near the hospital so we can go  up and spend the night hopefully my daughter will let dad have some QUALITY with her and let Supermom gets some much needed sleep we all know how comfortable hospital chairs are LOL. Please keep in prayer and a heartfelt thank you to all for the support.

It is SOP for any hospital to hold a patient for 24 hours non-febrile. The young lady is most fortunate to be in such good hands. Peritonitis is a serious problem which seems to have been addressed quite well.  Also, the younger patients do respond more quickly to injury/illness.  God speed and thank you for letting me put my medical two cents in.
