From left top to right bottom: Melbourne 6/7/10, Ormond Beach 9/8/10, Sarasota 11/12/10, Atlantic Beach 1/12/11, Melbourne (try 2) 1/25/11, Sebastian 1/26/11, Osceola County 7/19/11, Tallahassee 7/21/11, Melbourne (try 3) 8/23/11, Volusia County 7/24/12, Kissimmee 3/5/13.  Several others not pictured for reasons like thrown away, e-mail rejection, or verbal rejection.

I make this post in trying to let people know to continue to try no matter how many rejections you get.  I just get a little disheartened when I hear someone gets rejected once or twice and gives up.  Ontop of the 11 pictured, there is another 15-20 official rejections nt pictured.  The ideas behond statistics is no matter how many "NOs" you get, you're bound to get a "YES".  So don't quit too easily, just keep trying.  I haven't found my department yet, but I also haven't stopped trying.  I am, however, taking a break while I finish college and get into better shape.  Then I'll be hitting up the academy (possibly in another state) and going through this process once again till I find that "YES".

Thanks for sharing. I have my fair shares of rejection notices as well. Made it on 2 Civil Service hiring lists last year (one of them is with the agency I currently work for) and got passed up. The list expired last month and I'm testing again in August. Good luck to you!

Cmm07r, You certainly know my story........... Don't quit!!!!!!!  That said, I hope when you said "Happy Trails" that you are going to be sticking around these parts so as to keep receiving positive input and also, to let us know how you are doing.

Oh, of course.  The "Happy Trails" was more like an encouragement for the others trying and going through the same things so that they don't give up.  I'll be sticking around as long as the website stays up.  I'm also keeping up with this soo much that when I go to the academy, it will be the SECOND time whether it's in Florida or not.

You are absolutely right, that with every "no" you are closer to a "yes" of success! This phase of the process demands perseverance!
