I come from a family of cops and I grew up watching my all time favorite Adam-12, Andy Griffith and naturally Hill Street Blues. Those were the shows of my youth and when I stepped up and put my badge on the only shows that I really watch now are Longmire, because of the scenery, use to watch Southland, but tis no more. I do enjoy Blue Bloods and hope that one wil be around for awhile.

Thank goodness for retro TV because I can go back and watch a lot of those old shows again and relive the story lines and a little bit of my youth...

A&E has been airing reruns of Lognmire in the mornings. I've been catching up on the series and have to say I've enjoyed every episode.

I think the the changes came along time ago when we did not look. And now the new show of Rookie Blue is upon us ,and every thing we see is what it reflects to in life. Yes south land is a good show ,but I remember Hill street Blues, and startsky and Houch was the best of all time.

I agree with you all.  My favorite was always COPS because it shows the real days in the lives of our fellow officers. Very stressful but rewarding career that not everyone out there appreciates. Having humor helps, so think this is a great group.  Thanks for the invite.

All Police Officers are appreciated and I thank All of you for your dedicated hard working service.

I have to a  agree with most of the others here.  Though some of these shows are bit bit before my time i still enjoy watching them like CHiPs!  My favorite shows now have got to be Blue Bloods, Reno 911, The Shield, and Bait Car is pretty funny.  I know this might be a bit off subject but Serpico has got to be one of my favorite movies!!

"Justified", "Law & Order" (with Jerry Orbach), "Homicide:  Life on the Street", and "The Glades."  Lead characters in the last two get snarky with people, and that's just durn phunny.

All the above were and are good shows…I’d like to add The Rockford Files, James Garner always reminded me of my Dad. Charlie’s Angels, The Rookies, McMillan and Wife, Cagney and Lacey, The Commish, Hardball and the newest one “Boston’s Finest”.

My favorite, and the ones I continue to watch even now, thanks to METV, are Dragnet and Adam-12.  Never got into the new Adam-12 much and I wasn't much of a T.J. Hooker fan.  Same goes with Colombo and Kojack even though they were all good to some degree in their own right.

I just bought the wife (and I) the complete Barney Miller series on DVD for Christmas (among other gifts).  We both love the show and it's currently not running therefore it is a win, win.  Curious why it took 9 other posts for it to be mentioned by Dayngerus?

And until now....... No one has mentioned SWAT
