If I ever go on a ride-along, I will insist on a height requirement.  The officer should be able to see over the dashboard.

On the other hand, maybe I'm too... inflexible??

Aim at the high mark and you will hit it. No, not the first time, not the second time and maybe not the third. But keep on aiming and keep on shooting for only practice will make you perfect. Finally you'll hit the bull's-eye of success.

A local police department in my area had a tour, and that plate frame was on one of the bikes.  I completely broke up laughing, and had three officers wondering about me by the time I left. (I think the fact I was a civilian and knew enough about things to give my mom a general tour didn't help...  I suspect they wanted to know where I picked up my insight...)
