Our academy started out with 30 recruits, but we are now down to 22. I believe the ones we have now will be there until the end though. I also really have to hand it to the 4 ladies that started out in our class, they are all still there and are as tough as any of the guys, if not even moreso. I always said that most guys underestimate the toughness of women.

My academy class started with 125 on the first day...by the end of the first week we were down to 100!  Those 25 just didn't think the job was for them I guess.

We lost a few more over the next 6 1/2 months mostly due to test scores, and picked-up a few too (they had been injured during prior classes, recooped after surgery and joined our class in progress) and we ended up graduating with 97.

Is it pretty average for that percentage to drop out?

I knew a guy that was number 1 in his class and left during break in. Decided it was not for him. I have also seen applicants dismissed at the end of the academy.

Yes.

We don't drop cadets: They either fail testing expectations or they DOR (drop on request).
