Hey everyone, just joined the site and have been looking at everything I can.

I've been in the AF now for a little more than 7 years, and looking to go Reserve/Guard at the end of 2014 while trying to pursue becoming a LEO.

My job in the AF is in transportation/logistics, I have my Associates in logistics as well. I am currently more than halfway to my bachelors, but I'm wondering if I should change it to CJ, or Business Admin? Looking to find out what what would give me more of a benefit? I have no LE experience, other than the 4 month augmentee duty I did with the MP's and the deployment to Iraq working as Force Protection, which was nothing more than guarding and watching over third country national workers everyday.

CJ is not a requirement in LE, so I wouldn't sweat it and mess with going to get a degree in it just for a job. If you want to pursue it that's your choice or if you are considering a graduate degree that should be only your choice no one elses. If you opt for a graduate program look at what is out there and what fits with your career objectives and then pursue that choice. Stay in control of your own career education and professional development.

Simply calling your prospective agency and speaking with the recruiter will give you the answer you seek. If you have a list call each one on the list and ask the agency's their opinions. Good luck...

Thanks for your service. Yes, complete your BS/BA Degree prior to seperation. It does not matter what the degree is. Competition is tough in a law enforcement pursuit. Your military service is a plus.

Maybe switch to Security Forces in Guard or Reserve? I am Air  National Guard SF. What state will you live in if you leave active duty?

You can always do what I have been trying to do is get hired on Dept of Army or AF civilian Security Guard or other agencies, someone I know got there start by doing this cause they do some of the same stuff as the civilian cops on base just different title and you will have at least 5 point veterans preferance in the federal gov't. They are 0085 series. If want to PM I can help more if your interested.

You have been given excellent advice, thus far.Get a degree in whatever interests you.I will give you a hint en re to a C,J. degree. When I came on the job there were six of us with said degree .By thr time I retired over 90% of the officers had a C.J. degree and it is pretty much that way throughout the country. In essence there is MUCH more supply than demand for said degree.Good fortune to you.
