Yeah, I agree with MarlyB. The found one was intended to appear to be sculpted out of stone and not painted--even the pupils are in relief.

Well, whoever did the beheading must have had a mighty big broadaxe. Paul Bunyan comes to mind.

Doc...I think Paul Bunyan's ax is too big.  Besides, Paul is much too nice a hero to behead anyone.  Well...maybe an Al Qaeda operative.

KRG123 I didn't know Ichabod Crane's Headless Horseman was preceded by a Dutchman's Headless Hessian!  When I was a kid in Connecticut, Halloween was nice and scarey because of the Headless Horseman.  If you ventured out past the tumbledown cemetary you didn't have to use much imagination to hear his horse's hooves beating down the Old Post Road straight at YOU!

The Headless Horseman gets around!

Maybe David's head was commissioned as part of larger float project but the customer didn't pay so the head got thrown in the bay?

In any case, I don't think David was anybody's backyard decor.  At 7 feet, the effect would be rather more intimidating than this ponderous little specimen.   Hmmm...on the other hand...rolling a giant foam head down a hill could have been a lot of fun.  SPLASH!!!

Perhaps said floating head was an Al Qaeda operative!

It could also have jumped ship after serving as a prop for one of the floating casinos around here.

I can prove that it was dropped from a UFO but then I would have to take off my tinfoil hat and the government would find me

I hear that there is a very large horseman located over in Sleepy Hollow looking for that head.

Ah yes, the Floating Toga Party Casino Night theory.  Wonder if the casino clean-up crew dumped the torso and legs too?

I figure the prop was just the head sans torso or legs--just a flat platform. I don't think you'd want anything higher profile (on that scale) on the deck of a cruiseship, moving or not.
