I had a suspicion that it would fail. I was telling a friend and her husband last week that I was doubtful it would pass.

I agree with 36TR . I'm very happy it failed but I think they will keep trying for awhile. the battle was won but the war rages on.

I think it's far from over, but this is one great step.

I agree with Timmy. This is just the beginning. Personally, I joined the NRA a couple of months ago.

Jersey's gun laws are notorious for being among the most strict in the nation. There was actually an op/ed piece in a paper here warning that if Congress passed this bill it would have watered down Jersey's laws. I'm ambivalent to Congress' action. I didn't think it would pass and then wondered if the bombing in Boston would have an effect on some of the members' minds. Surely, one or two of them came to the realization that more gun laws would have zero effect on criminal activity.

brother nick, i totally agree.  And tell me, how long do you think it would take me to go into most citys of new jersey and buy an illegal pistol. I  would bet no longer than one hour and get you the caliber of your choice.

I bet the big man in the white house will still try and push it down our throats by any means possible. Just look at health care.

His Royal Hindass still has another three years and nine months to steal the remainder of our rights and don't think he won't try.

I'm glad it failed. There are enough politicians here in California trying to pass idiotic laws. Like charging a tax on each bullet.

BigNTS, can I send you my order?

I agree with everyone, I'm glad it failed but the battle isn't over. Like some other major issues they will keep hammering us until it   is passed or the Pontus will sign another Exective Order.

I was so busy with school, work, and sleep that I almost missed what was fully in this bill.  I am glad it failed because apparently if the bill passed, the tradition my family has of passing down the .22 I now have would not be legal with obtaining permits.  That's a little much.
