Question for you all....... How old is to old to test or be a police officer, is 38 to old? Being fit and healthy

Aw man, you missed it by one year! The cut-off is 37!


Ok, maybe I'm pulling your leg. 38 isn't too old for most, if not all, state/county/city agencies. The federal agencies have an age cut-off you may have to look into though.

I was 35, and not the oldest guy in my recruit class. There were challenges, but it was do-able!

 No, unless the agency has a cut off.  One agency in my jurisdiction is 35.  My agency cut off is 45.  Some others have no upper limit.  We had a guy in my academy class that was in his fifties.

 Agree with my peers here, not too old...but depends on the agency. Keep this in mind, many department will require 20 years of service before a pentions benefit kicks in, so the longer you wait, the older you'll be on the other side of a 20+ year career
