Didn't see any posts on this yet; hope this isn't a duplicate.

Police Week 2013 is quickly approaching. Who here's all planning on attending? I'll be down there from around the 12th to the 14th or 15th, and I'm sure will be at the chophouse a couple times.

I am planning on attending my first police week. Being a cop from north of the border will probably not permit me to some of the events but I thought it would be worth going to anyway.

Radar, this will be my third year going. There's no events that i'm aware of that anyone is restricted from attending. You'll have a great time. Are you going with other officers or flyin solo? There's usually quite a few officers from up your way that attend.

I am heading down by myself and I may just convince some of the boys to go.

I'll be attending again this year, coming in on the 10th and leaving on the 16th...this will be my 20th year.

Radarboy, we have a small group that meet up every year for Police Week....included are officers from Toronto, England, Scotland, Ireland, Australia and various parts of the U.S.  No-one has ever been denied participation in any of the numerous ceremonies or events...on the contrary, they have been welcomed with open arms for coming to another country to honor our fallen heroes...I'm sure you will be too!

We got issued new parade shoes for the dress uniform, they are all spit polished and ready to go. I am really looking forward to going. Hopefully there is a huge turn out from here, it has been a bad year as too many heroes had their watches ended too early.

I really want to go to one of these, DC is just too far for me to afford.

My group is all over the place since our ages range from early 30's to mid 60's.  Younger ones hit the busy spots, Irish Times, "Tent City,"  Chop House etc, us older ones prefer it just a tad quieter...but we all usually end up at Harry's, 11th and E.

Shadow, since you won't be there, would you like us to leave a rose for your dad again?  I have everyhting I need except a sentiment from you...message me and let me know!

Ah I see. I'll keep that in mind. There's only 2 of us from my dept. going, and the last couple years we usually end up at the chophouse. I'm sure that's where we'll end up again seeing we'll only be there the 12th - 14th.

I'm sure some of the guys will be at the Chop House, it's just down the street and around the corner from Harry's.  Maybe I'll join them one of the nights you're there...

That works! Being i'm not as mobile this year as I was last year, we're probably going to stay somewhat in that area. We always hit the chophouse at least once so we can get one of their PW pint glasses, but may have to check out Harry's as well.

Would you believe that in all these years I've never gotten one of those glasses???   LOL  Hary's isn't anything special, so don't expect anything like the Chop House or places like that.  If you know where the ESPN Zone is, Harry's is right across the street.

I started getting the glasses the first year I went, and they change them every year. I just like the Copper Ale, and one of the male bartender's (bald guy) family lives right near me!  They're pretty cool looking if you're into that sort of thing. I usually end up bringing them home for those who don't make it down there. I know right where Harry's is....they have good food there?

I've yet to have something there that I didn't like, and the price is better than most.  We also frequent the Dubliner, but we were so disappopinted with them last year that we might not go back.  For the larger appetite, there's a Brazilian Steakhouse a block south of Harry's...it's expensive, but well worth it!  We try to find something new every year, from American to Irish to Chinese to Mexican....there's so many places to eat in that area!!

I'll be there from the 13th thru the 18th - back and forth between downtown DC and Alexandria with the Survivors - hit me up once everyone's in and settled.

Well, I left a little late and stopped at a motel in Pennsylvania. Hoping to get there to check in tomorrow just after lunch. What a trip so far.

I'll be in DC late Tuesday night. Staying with a friend in Virginia. He's not LE, just an old friend. As this is obviously my first, I have no clue as where to go, or what to do. What are the must see / do's for police week?

Thanks Sarge!

I wasn't able to stay through today, got home late last night. But, I must say, I had a wonderful time, and got to connect with ImQnMutha down there finally, and got to meet Radarboy as well!

Safe travels for those who are still there.

What an amazing week. Thanks to Jkaz and IamQnMutha for being so hospitable to a Canadian cop. So many new friends met and lasting memories. I will definitely come again next year but will pick a closer hotel and bring some more Canadians with me. That 12 block walk at night isn't what this country boy is used to. I will post my pics when I get home.

God bless you all. Events like this help us talk to each other and deal with the terrible situations that we witness over the years. A common bond through standing as that thin blue line.

I am so very proud to be a law enforcement officer as I am sure all here are too.

Thank you all.

Was great hanging out with ya radar. Next year, I'll be in contact earlier, so hopefully we can get in the same hotel, or at least closer. Maybe we can all get together for dinner one night.

Loved meeting with JKaz, Radar, and Tom!  I wish we could have spent more time talking, and thanks for coming to our Roses first annual ceremony, we've been asked to do this every year...it didn't seem like it, but we had 88 people attend!  I already have my reservations for next year...if you want, I'll message you the hotel...

Awesome turnout for the first one! Let me know where you're staying next year and maybe we can get in the same place or at least close. Radar seemed to have a good time as well. Hopefully we can all meet for dinner or a drink next year.
