Hi everyone!  I just recently found this website while researching a potential career in law enforcement.  I reside in Chattanooga, TN, and am currently applying to the Chattanooga Police Department to attend their academy.  I am a 26 (soon to be 27) year old US Army veteran currently attending Chattanooga State Community College on my 9/11 GI Bill benefit.  I separated from Active Duty in the US Army almost this time last year and have been in the TN National Guard ever since.  I've encountered several Guard members who serve as police officers in Nashville, and have followed their advice to seek more information about a career in law enforcement.   I served in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan, during OEF 10-11 as a HUMINT Team Leader and am trying to make use of the training I received in the Army and translate it into my civilian life.  I've always held LEO in high regard for the sacrifices they make, and would love nothing more than to join their ranks and contribute something to my city.

I am happy to have found you guys and can't wait to interact with you more.

Very Respectfully,

Ian Morrow

Thank you all very much for the warm welcoming and friend requests!  I'm already learning so much about careers as a LEO that it's almost overwhelming!  In regard to the written examinations for becoming a police officer, are there any particular study guides on the market that you might recommend?  Some of the ones I've seen seem to be specific to certain states (which makes sense as some laws vary from state-to-state).  Any TN officers have suggestions in that case?
