Blacking out shiny snaps

Posted 2 months ago So I have a favorite mag pouch (Safariland Slimline). I bought it online in basketweave, but it has shiny stainless snaps. My new agency doesn't allow any visible/shiny snaps on your belt. Is there a way using shoe polish, spray paint, electrical tape, or any other methods to fix this while making it look like the snaps were black all along? Any of you have any tricks so I can avoid spending $40 or whatever those fancy pouches cost? |

| Posted 2 months ago I am going to respond to your question at no charge. Purchase some black snaps. If you desire to be a cop you are going to have to be more of a thinker. |

| Posted 2 months ago You might try some black fingernail polish? Or better yet, work an OT shift and buy some new ones. |

| Posted 2 months ago I didn't realize you can change out the snaps. Thought I would try axing around on here, Uncle D, before I ruined something. |

| Posted 2 months ago Check ebay. I purchased all my leather gear on this site and paid pennies on the dollar. I always used vercro or hidden snaps. No charge. |

| Posted 2 months ago Wal Mart or any fabric store will have the metal fastener tool with different sizes of fasteners. You can buy the snap fasteners in black. Easy to remove and replace! |

| Posted 2 months ago All my sam browne pouches are Aker Leather with hidden snaps (I have a different brand for my duty holster). Have held up well over 15 years.

I would just buy the new one, but I thought the one I ordered didn't have exposed snaps, but it came that way.
