Hello everyone. How is everyone doing? I am currently expecting to take the Baltimore city police department exam in one week and five days. I am very eager to get hired. I have researched the test and agility exam. I feel very comfortable with the test material, I have purchased Police officer exams for dummies manual. (I have taken 2 New York fire department exams) I feel comfortable in the exam enviroment. The Agility test I have down pat, I have been exercising the routine for a couple weeks now. I have contacted a friend in the area who is newly hired and he has informed the exam and agility test are pass/fail. I expect to pass both with flying colors. A credit check, Medical history, and High school transcript will also be examind. I have no felony convictions. I have had some recent interactions under driving infractions both unjust and will be probably excused in a court of law but the court dates are still being determined. I have some outstanding credit issues due to my immaturity level. I am in the process of handiling the matters at the present date. My high school transcript is poor because I was a jerk. I am very motivated to get this job 25 y/o male from ny. What else do I need to do?

To be blunt about it there are many folks out there with exemplary backgrounds that will be taken prior to you being considered. Maturity is a must and so is your credit record. You might need to wait until all of your baggage is done with. Sorry.

Thank you for your input. It is upsetting to hear, but It is what it is. I will still take the test and hope for the best.

Good afternoon and a hearty welcome to Police Link Hireme12.Baltimore is a fine place.I lived in Md. for a few years and had family in B-more.bill9823 gives top notch advice.Your enthusiasm for the job is commendable.Don't be discouraged if you don't get on the first try, many of us didn't .Work hard ,as Bill suggested, to straighten out those other problems and your chances will vastly improve. You may also look into some college credit hours, which will give you extra points in your entrance and promotional exams.

Why do you want to be in Law Enforcement? What skills do you have that would make you stand out from other applicants?

Good luck too you.

So you applied for FD here in NY but not PD and you are looking at Baltimore????  I have a hard time believing you didn't apply for NYPD or other jurisdictions in NY.

Have ASP will travel.

Justice is the one thing you should always find, you gotta saddle up your boys you gotta draw a hard line.

When the gun smoke settles we'll sing a victory tune and we'll all meet back at the local saloon.

And we'll raise up our glasses against evil forces singing whiskey for my men beer for my horses.

I do not have the 64 required credits. I am currently attending a college for a general two-year degree. I now see the value of an education as I did not when I was younger. I applied for FDNY because they did not require the 64 credits. I have 6 years of car mechanic experience The tests have material that I understand very well. I scored a 95. I have been volunteering with 2 local fire departments for 3 years and really enjoy the community service. I also draw to very tight knit communities and tend to excel there. I started yesterday with a debt counseling service, and ordered a nice suit and tie for my exam. Im hoping I can prove to them I do care what they think and that I am a suitable canidate( no pun intended).
