Posted 3 months ago Those of you with more Police Link experence please advise what I'm doing wrong. I type about 10 - 15 lines and try to post and I get this error message. I see posts a lot long then what I typed. How do you remove HTML markup when it is hidden from view? Problem creating topic. |

| Posted 3 months ago I have seen the HTLM mark up "flash" and disappear. No way to see it to delete. As you said, I gave up several times and just didn't post. |

| Posted 3 months ago Thanks, Bill. And thanks for making the thread a "Sticky Topic" Friends, I've helped LEOs who have PM'ed me over the last four years. I love to read LEO quotes and other materials. They are the heart of PL. PIX POST TRAINING thread is for newcomers and those who need to refresh on posting pix and quotes copied off websites. Please do me a favor and bump it once in awhile. That way, others benefit. The thread is pretty straight-forward if one takes the time to read it. Doesn't take much to get the knack. Remember a trace of HTML can be left in your post, so after following the method described, if you still have the error message, just start with a fresh window. I do hope to see more LEOs come up to speed so PL Forums can liven up! |

| Posted 3 months ago MarlyB, how do you get HTML from a typed post? The response you just typed is longer than my post and get an error message telling me it's too long. |

do you type it directly into the post or do you type it in a word processor first? |

| Posted 3 months ago I'm baffled by that one, TNDeputy. I've had it happen before when I've posted a portion of my microsoft document. Who knows why. It's also happened when I've picked up some HTML off a quote from the internet. Ive deleted the quote but invisible code residue remains. Code residue. I like that. lol As to length prohibition, I think for some reason you picked up a ton of HTML that doesn't show to you but that drives the post over the word limit. I would exit the Forum altogether, then come back in with a fresh post from scratch. Use the Quick Diff Online Tool I refer to in the PIX POST seminar. It'll strip code off your content where-ever you get it. Sometimes that error message hangs around for no apparent reason...but turns out BAM! a tiny fragment of HTML bounces your post.. |

| Posted 2 months ago Sometimes if you put in abbreviations without spaces it will sometimes read it as html. And I was going to say the same thing as bill did about typing in a processor rather than directly, but also I had problems if I copy and paste ANYTHING. Even copying/pasting things off a website or anything else it seems to want to register it as html and automatically gets the boot. |

| Posted 2 months ago I have stopped posting a lot of stuff and really don't come around much anymore for reasons like this........too much hassle to carry on as we once were able to do. "Be a yardstick of quality. Some people aren't used to an environment where excellence is expected."

I learned how to by pass this on other sites. With this you just spell it like this D i c k Morris. This way it's not a two word name but recognizes it as a 5 word name. |
