Can a real police officer please answer me this question. I'm a 23 year old male with an associates degree in Criminal  Justice, i will be post certified in my state in 2014, and i have always worked since 17 at 19 i owned my own companies.  In 2011 my ex-wife ran out of a restruant and took off so i couldn't pay there for i got a petty larceny charge.  I was told it would be fine as long as it was three years away from the date. I will also be EMT certified. I,m i going to be screwed,or not be able to obtain a job in police work. Please be stright with me and no dumb answers, or stuff like, you can cry or join the military. if you have any questions  I can post my resume one here. Let me know if you are incharge of hiring currently at your station. Best bet is to check with some local agencies and see what they recommend. There are agencies that will hire with a minor thing on your record, but that would depend on the agency.

IF that is the only thing on your record then you should be OK. That being said, pay attention to the little things, the details, such as spelling and grammar as they are important. This job is not as it is portrayed in the movies and you will be doing many many many many many written reports. Do we have spell check on our MDT's? Yes we do however I don't know if it could fix that mess. Good luck!
