Or...you can chose the code you DON'T have to edit.  I'll let you all figure out which one it is.

This one's no piece of cake to edit...but let's give it a shot.

<a href="http://beta.photobucket.com/" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1290.photobucket.com/albums/b521/PRIVATE2013/14341_1274580112888_3428236_n_zps7317518e.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 14341_1274580112888_3428236_n_zps7317518e.jpg"/></a>

Hmmm...going off the same principle, I will choose...the whole enchilada from the http:// yada yada blabber blabber to .jpg

jpg is the type of image it is and its the last thing you see in the string.  Annnnd leave off the quotes.

<a href="http://beta.photobucket.com/" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1290.photobucket.com/albums/b521/PRIVATE2013/14341_1274580112888_3428236_n_zps7317518e.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 14341_1274580112888_3428236_n_zps7317518e.jpg"/></a>

Paste it into the Insert/Image URL annnnd...

BAM!!!

My pleasure, ssu459!

Recently, I saw a pix post where LODD memorial coins wound up the size of *gasp*  DINNER PLATES.  Sorry but...

SIZE MATTERS!

RESIZE YOUR IMAGES!

REFER TO: TINYPIC.COM IN THIS THREAD

Yup. Bad stuff happens when you post a GIANT image in threads. Images that are too giant skew the thread format, so a single sentence winds up about three feet long. Or at least, feels that way.  So...have mercy on your readers woncha annnd -

TINYPIC THAT MONSTER!

I try to resize the images to 800x600 but when I save the page it goes back to the giant size pics. Why?

Graywater Ops - That goofy default is a Monster formatted obstacle to get around.  Get around it by going to Page One of this thread and reading about Tinypic.  That post is also called "SIZE MATTERS."   lol  I dunno.  Maybe I should have titled the post above "SON OF SIZE MATTERS"??

Good Luck!

It has been my pleasure to offer some tips on pix posting to Policelink.  I have already seen members' contributions with pix!!   Remember this thread also contains the means to get around the dread Prohibited HTML red flag.

Your opinion and ideas matter!  Use www.quickdiff.com to strip prohibited HTML off your references.  Use Tinypic to resize.

Meanwhile...Remember the Alcala case and the cache of the serial killer's "hundreds if not thousands" photos found in his storage locker?

COLD CASE CACHE - SEEN THEM?

EXAMPLE USING QUICK DIFF AND TINYPIC -

From: http://www.cbsnews.com/2300-504083_162-10006434-2.html

2010 - CBS 48 HOURS

"While pursuing an appeal in California, Alcala was indicted in 2011 in the killings of Cornelia Crilley and Ellen Hover in New York, partly on evidence that emerged during his California trial. Alcala admitted to murdering the women and told a Manhattan judge he wanted to plead guilty to the two murder counts in New York City so he could get back to California to pursue an appeal in his death penalty case.

After this conviction, Huntington Beach police decided to release some of Alcala's photos, recovered from a storage space registered to him in Seattle. They also sent over 200 photos whose backgrounds looked like they could have been taken in and around Manhattan to the NYPD.

Recognize the person in this photo? Please contact Huntington Beach, Calif., Police Det. Patrick Ellis at 714-375-5066 or pellis@hbpd.org."
