Posted 5 months ago 1-8-12 (I know that many of you have done acts of valor and heroism during your career and/or if you were in the military. I wish I knew them all. I'd like to consider starting a Hall of Valor. We hear so much of our brothers and sisters dying in the line of duty. A place on PoliceLink to read about the heroic efforts of our members might be the upbeat forum that continues to acknowledge those who have put their lives in obvious jepardy or saved a life. You might have to send me to a link or source where I can read about your actions. I will not divulge the nature of 'first contact'. Send info to my PM box. Thanks.) Dateline - Doylestown, PA: I want you to meet JWhit28. Her profile page is -http://policelink.monster.com/member/JWhit28. (Remove the hyphen and then cut-n-paste) Doylestown PD officer Jessica Whiteside was working on Thanksgiving Eve. A horrendous crash occurred on a highway near her. She responded to the scene and appeared to be the first one there. She quickly assessed the scene and began CPR on one person involved, who in cop parlance was P2 [not the cause of the accident]. EMS personnel who eventually made it on scene stated that officer Jess' actions made a clear difference in saving the lady's life. She was subsequently honored and commended by the city mayor. The link to the story is at this link (remove the hyphen and cut-n-paste): -http://www.phillyburbs.com/my_town/doylestown/doylestown-officials-commend-police-officer-for-saving-life/article_dea3381b-983e-5e92-94f2-85323b520383.html Once you are in the article, click on the links from within the article to take you to other photos, a video and additional info on the wreck. Apparently the P1 driver was driving his Mustang in excess of 140 MPH when he rearended P2. Way to go, Jess. Thank you for demonstrating the honorable extremes of LEO work in the highest traditions of law enforcement. This article was discovered by Cat_D during the verification process. Jess never said a word.

| Posted 5 months ago Thanks everybody. The news (as usual) gets the story wrong. It was a rear-end type crash on a four lane highway, at the border to my jurisdiction. Unit 2, Honda CRV, held driver and her granddaughter. The driver was in respiratory arrest when I got there. And I was fourth or fifth one to arrive. It's true what they say in CPR class about "reposition" the head. Cause that's all I did. Right place, right time. I'm happy to be recognized, but I don't think I did anything out of the norm. Miraculously, the Driver is doing very well. In a rehabilitation hospital now. I went and visited last weekend. I was surprised that it helped my emotional health, seeing her recovering. Her beautiful grand-daughter passed away. She was trapped and Class 5 when we arrived. As it usually does with children, the death was hard on all the first responders. I should stop there, but there are a few stories online if you search, and the dumb YouTube video is still probably there.

| Posted 5 months ago Jess, while you say it is your job and you were at the right place at the right time, you demonstrated the True Service of your Heart without hesitation in providing life saving techniques because every second counts. I have heard and seen LEO hesitate and squirm at the sight of blood and unconsious person. Pleasure and honor to learn of your Heroic Heart and effort. |
