Posted 6 months ago 12-28-12 A Marist Poll recently put forth the 5 most annoying words for 2012. They are, in order: 1. "Whatever..." 2. "Like..." 3. "You know..." 4. "Just sayin'..." 5. "Twitterverse" Now, here are 5 phrases that are the most annoying for law enforcement professionals: 1. "I wanna press charges." 2. "I got robbed." (not knowing the difference between a burglary and real robbery) 3. "Two beers." 4. "These aren't my pants." 5. "I know the law."
Got any annoying words or phrases to add here? |

| Posted 6 months ago 12-28-12 LOL.. All the words on the top 5 from the Marist Poll, I say.. . frequently.... ha ha. I wonder the demographics of the poll.. I'll have to look that one up. I don't like the phrase: "Suck it up". "Government's first duty is to protect the people, not run their lives." - Ronald Reagan

Know what I'm sayin'? (Liberally inserted between every 5-7 other words spoken). I'm a Taxpayer, and I pay your salary! You can't arrest me! (a personal favorite that is ofter viewed as a challenge). Why aren't you out arresting "REAL CRIMINALS"? (because I got you before you graduated to the rank of FELON). Why are you PIGS harassing me? You're only stopping me because I'm (insert race, creed, religion, color, sexual preference here). Don't you have anything better to do than bust people for speeding......(nope, I cleared up all of the felony arrests yesterday so you are it). If you weren't weraing that badge I would kick your A$$..........(hold that thought for a second........as I remove the shield) "Be a yardstick of quality. Some people aren't used to an environment where excellence is expected."

| Posted 6 months ago @Home depot security at the door Can I see your receipt? (As they watched me pay for my purchases) My answer is always, Nope! “The real reason that we can’t have the Ten Commandments in a courthouse: You cannot post “Thou shalt not steal,” “Thou shalt not commit adultery,” and “Thou shalt not lie” in a building full of lawyers, judges, and politicians. It creates a hostile work environment.” |

| Posted 6 months ago Here's one that gets me: "Due to a high call volume all agents are busy right now. Your business is important to us so please stay on the line. Your call will be answered in the order received. Please stay on the line and the next customer service agent will be with you as soon as possible." (repeat 8000 times) Here's one I bet gets to LEOs. Just a teensy weensy bit. Setting: Denny's. A huge order of burgers and fries arrives at the table. Civilian approaches table. "Excuse me, Officers, I know you're on your break right now and I don't mean to interrupt your lunch but I just have one question I'd like to ask you, it's not about needing you to arrest anyone or anything." |

| Posted 6 months ago 12-28-12 Short story: I had a guy on a traffic stop many years ago. Nothing huge. The guy says, "I know your Chief. Yeah, we're good friends." I say, "Hey, really? When was the last time you saw him?" He replies, "We had lunch two weeks ago." I reply, "He died seven years ago." He signed the citation without further comment. |

| Posted 6 months ago 12/28/12 1. Walking into a store, restaurant, etc in uniform and hearing some one say "It wasn't me," or pointing to their friend and saying "Bob, they're here to get you." All while laughing and thinking they're original and funny. 2. Any comment involving a donut joke. 3. "I tried drugs X number of times and have a driving history 3 pages long...can I still be a cop?"

I love the ones where we have a person of interest on drug buys and they wanna come work for us. Ahhh NO. Bad stuff happens to good people, handle it and overcome.

| Posted 6 months ago I specifically recall the last one Retleo posted."If you weren't wearing that badge I would kick your a$$"THe first couple times I heard it was during my initial street training. My F.T.O. was a former Marine D.I. When told that he would unpin his badge and the mouthy idiot became VERY quiet....Whenever I was asked the standard"Do you know who I am"I would say"No ,but I will when you sign the citation". |
