Our little girl has had a horrible rash for over a year, was hospitalized last December, and has been miserable. We were told it was Excema. She's been to numerous doctors and waited months for appts with specialists. She started meds for an ear infection last week and now her rash seems to be clearing up! She isn't waking up to scratch at night and slept most of the day today! Pray this is finally the answer! Pray it goes away all together and doesn't come back! Pray it will work on her infant brother who is getting it too! Thank you!

I went through similar with 3 of my kiddos. We were finally able to chase it down as food allergies (wheat, dairy, peanuts). And its surprising how many unrelated products have these items as ingredients or are manufactured on the same equipment. Two of them also fought with eczema, which may or may not have been related to, or compounded by, the allergies.

Its frustrating watching your kids be uncomfortable/sick and not knowing why. Prayers for answers and comfort!

What is she getting treated with?  I had a rash (vest related) which was found to be Foliculitis (sp?).  I was treated with both an antibiotic and prednizone (steroids) which cleared the rash and relieved the most serious itch I have ever experienced.  Hope she will be ok.

I will pray for your children, Freezie!  Also, try Dove, Alpha-Keri, Oilatum or Purpose soap.  These are recommended for excema.  Also...mind what shampoo you get for them.  Sometimes the detergent you wash their clothes in can irritate - fabric softeners, that sort of thing.  Keep the skin clean and dry as water makes it worse.  Even a light sweat can make them itchy.

A good emollient is Fisherman's Formula by Neutrogena.

And yes, I will pray!

She's getting amoxicillan. She's been on steroid creams that never seemed to help, maybe try both at once? Thank you

we've tried aveeno, absorbase, eucerin, hydrocerin, several excema creams, hydrocortisone, steroid cream, calamyne lotion, colloidial oatmeal, bleach (small amount in bath per doc), and lots of other stuff. we've changed laundry soap several times, I shampoo the rugs, put her in nothing but cotton jammies for a few monnths, LOL we have tried a TON of stuff. It started at 4 months old, so if its a food allergy it must be in Similac formula. waiting for appt with the allergist. BUT sure hope we won't need to go! I hope this antibiotic clears it all the way up! I'd be HAPPY to burn all our linens and clothes too, if that would ensure it doesn't return! LOL. I'll keep you guys posted, just keep praying, we're all crossing fingers and toes!

Prednizone pills worked the best.  It relieved the itch and allowed the amoxicillan to do it's job better and faster.  Of course, I don't know how old your child is and if she can even take the pills.  Also not sure if it comes in liquid form.
