Posted 5 months ago 12-12-12 After being here over five years and working through some odd technical things, here are two suggestions to make your online experience a little smoother. (Dang, sounds like a sale pitch: "...your online experience.") 1. Date your posts like I have done at the beginning of this topic. It helps subsequent posts and other PL folks know the dateline of the topic or discussion. In or about 2007, there used to be an accurate and distinct programmed timer on the site. That timer has since been replaced with days, weeks, months, years. BUT, even that protocol is not totally accurate. 2. If you are having a opposing discussion with someone on the forums or articles, use the QUOTE feature. It will help memorialize the person with whom you are talking. In the article area, you'll have to type out the username. Making sure to use the persons account username helps the Moderators track down people who are not good for site health. I tend not to use the quote option with friends unless it is a significantly-sized quote and I am going to be addressing several portions of it. That way, my friend isn't "locked in" to what they say in cyberspace if they realize they need to edit for clarity. Sometimes someone'll notify me of an error of some kind and I have the option to change my post. It's a friendly courtesy we use all the time. Antagonists who pop in to post hostile remarks, different story. Then, I use the quote feature in order to "lock in" their statements. Dating is a good idea. Did I say that? Don't quote me. lol Otherwise...BUMP! |
