America at War Veterans Project

Posted 7 months ago My high school is an innovative project based learning environment, which means that the majority of our curriculum is taught through group based projects. Every year the Juniors here do a project called America at War, this project focuses on WWII, the Vietnam war, the Korean War, and the 2003 Iraq war. Each team of students is assigned one of these wars and a veteran whom they interview in person. This interview is not only about what the veteran when through, but also how they feel the war changed themselves and others. When we are done with the project, we have a viewing day, where our local congress representative and all of the veterans that were interviewed get to come. We present our videos and talk about the project as a whole. At the end of all of this our videos are sent to the Library of Congress, where they are archived for all to see. Every year our teachers struggle to find new veterans who are near enough to us to do an in-person interview, and also willing to share their experiences with us. If you know of someone or are willing to help us, please do. We are Leonardo Da Vinci High Charter Academy in Davis CA. which is near Sacramento.
Thanks, Shasta |

| Posted 7 months ago You might also try your local VFW post, any VA hospitals in your area, or contact the Public Affairs bureau of the military bases closest to your school. BTW, I think this project is a great way to learn about the country !! Best of luck, Shasta !!! |
