Continued prayers for John and his family.

As I sit here writing this to all of you who loved John, I'm crying.  He was my very best friend and I was his.  I loved him too and as he hot sick I told him so.  There was nothing we couldn't talk about.  I talked to him almost every day especially when he got sick.  The last time I heard his voice was right before he had to go back to the hospital.  He developed another infection which lead us to this point.  I've been in touch with his wife Nancy.  She been so amazingly strong throughout this time.  I need to tell you all that she said for us to prepare ourselves.  John is losing his battle with cancer.  My heart is breaking and know all his PL friends are as well.  So if this is God's plan for John we have to continue praying and somehow try to accept a loss.  I pray that God is with john, all his family and friends during this most difficult time.

John,brother.I am not wise enough for the appropriate,fitting words to say to one of this dearest  friends this site has.You,sir have imparted your wisdom and mirth to us all and we are so very appreciative of your being,presence,spirit and soul.No doubt in my mind and heart you have aided so very many along the proper path to follow in their lives.Your friendship brings to mind a song produced by a Mr. Bill Withers when we were both yet young officers.It is titled "Lean On Me".In essence my friend that is what I want  you to do at this time,just "Lean On Me" and all those other who have posted here.

  I pray the entire Groh family knows we are all John's family,it's a cop thing !!!  Dave

I keep thinking about all the jokes Wiseass sent to his friends.  It's been like, through all the merd Life deals us, Wiseass has always been there saying, "BUCK UP, FRIENDS!!!"  Somehow, I think if Wiseass could respond to this prayer thread, he'd crack wise. 

John Groh is a bull of a man.

I'd like to share specific things about John's career - I mean, apart from the fact that his versatility and expertise meant that over the course of decades John was special-training new officers in various departments in his agency.  The go-to guy in training of all kinds at all levels.  Some of you will read between the lines here - GOOD. I don't know how to say it any other way, but John has always been a "mensch ."  Somebody come up with a better word and I'll use it.

But I cannot or, better, won''t get specific.  It's...a blue-line-ish kinda thing.  Let's just say that Wiseass stories tell things about the forces that come to bear on being  a good cop.  For this civilian, that feeling especially, is an eye-opener.  Enter Nancy Groh.  Hat's off to you again, Nancy!

I was talking to a friend today and I said something like - "Sometimes a person's life is a prayer."  You know, the acts - the years of service in protecting others from harm.  That'd be Wiseass. 

That'd be all y'all.

John,

I miss you and love you.  I know you know that.  My prayers continue for you and Nancy and the kids.  You have touched so many lives in so many different ways.  Bottom line is you are unforgettable, my dear friend.  There is only one John Groh.  Those who had the privilege of knowing you are very lucky.  I know you are in Gods hands.  I ask God to please make you well again.

 My prayers for John, his family and friends are still being sent.  Thank you Denise for keeping us up to date.  I know that John is loved by a lot of people here and that if it is God's will to take him home, then God will have a great cop to walk the streets of heaven. 

You're so very welcome!!  His amazing wife, Nancy is keeping me informed.  As of now John's hangin' in there.  So that's good news for now.
