Suzanne as MZ said, we have the Hurricane coming from one direction and a Noreaster coming from another, which is what is making it so bad., at least they are no longer saying Rochester could get snow. Thats as MZ said as well, ethy are calling for several feet of snow in W Va. I just saw on the news they are still saying waves on Ontario Lake coming into shore could be 22 feet. I am hoping that the people there are evacuating as they always flood and with waves alot smaller....

Even those not in the direct path of the storm (or even anywhere near the coast) may want to review their disaster preparedness plans:

http://goo.gl/JQzRZ                             <- 33-foot waves could roil Lake Michigan as Hurricane Sandy's winds roar

We were out and about earlier today; the winds are strong and the rain is blowing. I'm glad to be home, safe, dry and warm. Like Doc, I'm right outside Philly; I know we have not seen the worst of it yet.

I am very worried about my family in New Jersey and Ct. Being from Florida I know how bad these storms can be. I hope everyone stays off the roads and heeds all warnings. Stay safe and don't let your guard down.

Willimantic CT here. WInds are picking up, but not so bad. Lights have been flickering so we expect them to go off soon. I feel bad for NJ and CT coastal residents (and anyone else affected of course), my situation is certainly less severe. Stay safe everyone

We're feeling the wind gusts and temperature drops here in Ohio. I know these winds are not near as bad as y East Coast PL Family is experiencing.

Stay Safe Everyone!! In my Thoughts and Prayers!!!

The predicted 60+ mph wind gusts and massive flooding never made it to Central NY. The coast is another story, though. Storm surge has put subway and utility tunnels under water. Apparently a lot of the energy from Sandy was transferred to the gigantic winter storm which is still wreaking havoc in Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Michigan, Western Maryland and other areas.

FYI--apparently there are a lot of fake Hurricane Sandy photos that are being circulated. Be aware of that before you try to pass off one as the truth. Here's a piece on that:

Made it thru the storm.   Wind and rain but no flooding in my area or loss of power.  The lowest barimetric pressure I had was last night at midnight. It was 930mb.

Great news, GLady!!

Lost sleep last night after looking at the satellite maps.  Hurricane Sandy killed people days before it hit our shores to kill more.  I live near the sea and know shore conditions of all kinds.  What I saw of conditions along our east coast disturbed me.  Monstrous.

Prayers up for you all coping with this nasty storm.

Love to hear from Nick.

Havin lived through SEVERAL hurricanes in my lifetime (including Betsy, Camille and Katrina) what I'm seeing on TV is CRAZY bad ! The big thing that has me worried is the cold. Ya'll PLEASE take precaution, check on your neighbors even if you don't know them. Stay warm and keep in touch ! Remember the electric companies are bring in reinforcements but the damamge is so very wide spread and the population is so dense that a lot of you will need to take care of yourselfs !

Superstorm Sandy Liveblog: Moving slowly, still a big storm

Sandy is now centered in western Pennsylvania, but creating big waves – as high as 27 feet – on Lake Michigan. Expect rain, snow, and gale force winds across a wide swath of the US.
