Posted 7 months ago We are bracing for a serious hit by this hurricane here in the Mid-Atlantic. I'm at home battening down the hatches. I'll be working all day securing my house and getting the generator and provisions together. Before I do that, though, I wanted to wish ALL my brothers, sisters and friends here on PL in the path of the storm well. BE SAFE, BE PREPARED, AND BE CAREFUL. I'll post updates on my condition when I can. I'd like all of you who are affected to do the same. PL MENTORING TEAM MEMBER "Don't underestimate the drawing power of the Garden State." Got yer sump pump ready? But then again, as bad as you had it last year (Hurricane Irene), a sump pump would not have helped anyway. |

I hear that, too, but as of right now the beakerheads are predicting this for my area:
Bessie Braddock: “Sir, you are drunk.” Churchill: “Madam, you are ugly. In the morning, I shall be sober.” |

| Posted 7 months ago Prayers to all in it's path, especially those in the direct path when it comes ashore. When it passed the Miami area it was 200+ miles off coast and we still got significant rain and wind gusts... | Posted 7 months ago Being in Rochester, we won't get hit with the brunt of it but a border Patrol Agent who was at an event I was at said they were told Lake Ontario which is what borders Rochester is expecting at least 25 foot waves in our area! Far enough from the shore that shouldn't affect me but it will make it interesting for us....hopefully that doesn't happen. Right now its just very cold and windy but supposed to get even worse by tomorrow afternoon with very high winds...60 -70 MPH. Our weather people are wa5tching the snow in Ohio as we can also get hit from both directions. For my PL and other friends that are right on the shores where the Hurricane will hit I am praying for all of you and your families... |

| Posted 7 months ago Here's a nice tool: http://www.google.org/publicalerts Punch in a zip code and it'll narrow down just the alerts for that area. It looks like this far inland we're going to get high wind warning and a flood watch tomorrow, but so far they're predicting temps to stay above freezing.

| Posted 7 months ago Sorry.... I'm just mumbling here, staying up and not wanting to go to sleep. As powerful as the winds are here in Georgia, I"m surprised I still have power. I"m afraid the power may go out during the night and I won't hear my alarm go off. I have to be at work at 8 am. Eveyone, please stay safe and always heed warnings. Don't try to stay in your home and weather out the storm. There's a reason for mandatory evacuations. God bless! |
