10-15-12: S.F. Giants fan here. The pennant race (NLSC) is on and WE lost the first game of 7 with the Cardinals.

From the "Are You Kidding Me?" files: Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig is whining about champagne celebrations. Thinks they might be dangerous. Have a root beer, Bud. Quit the CYA declarations.

Game #2 tonight: Vogelsong vs. Carpenter at AT&T.

Yeah, the last time I checked all the players in the winning teams locker room were all over 21 years old and made quite a bit of money. I say let them waste their money how they want. I think the World Series this year will be San Fransicso and Detroit.

Go Tigers!

"...huge Yankee fan...." ? Hmmm. A Jeter broken ankle, ... a no-hit swing from Rodriguez. I dunno. Can money buy happiness? Bah !!!

Not quite... Bryce Harper with the Nationals is only 19. They are out now, but they had a couple champagne moments.

My Braves did it to me again this year. They made it to the post season and lost in the wild card game. I'm getting too used to their one round an out playoff appearances.

I think I'm going to have to side with Sarge here and see if the Giants can pull it out.  The world series, hmmmm...the Giants and someone else that will lose. LoL

This postseason has been one of the greatest in my lifetime (30 years).  All LDS going to game 5 thats never happened before.  The new wildcard game add so much excitement at the end of the year.  Detriot is playing great ball, pitching, hitting, defense is all coming together they are playing Detriot ball.  Cards and Gaints might go to 6 or even 7 games.  I am a Royals fan so I get to sit back and enjoy baseball without emotional attachment for a good half of a season.

Question...if the Hall trust lets a steriod era player in, should the let the Black Sox and Pete Rose in as well?

Yankees are dead in the water. Jeter is gone for the post-season, and the foursome of Cano, Texeira, A-Rod and Swisher aren't hitting their weight !! Typical A-Rod performance in the post-season.

Gooooooooooooooooo   yankees.  Well, that's what I said all season, but now....

my Orioles finally had a great year but just came up short against the over priced Yankees.  i do think that they would have put up a better fight against the Tigers though.  no doubt that they have the manager of the year and it was great to be out of the basement of the division.

so......where will A-rod be next year?  highly doubt he will be a Yankee and i am kind of leaning toward the Marlins.

They need to get rid of him but who in their right mind is going to pick up his 5 year $115 million contract. After all, his post PED career is terrible.  That doesn't even explain what to do about the poor performances of Cano, Granderson, Swisher, Texiera and Martin. They  collectively are averaging .200 in the post season.

The Yankees have too many superstars. It doesn't make sense to have cano, swisher, arod, texiera, or jeter sacrifice bunt or have runners steal to play small ball. At any point against any pitcher they can hit it deep. When they are on, it works well, when they are not..well, you've seen the results.

The A's have been fun to watch this year. There are no superstars on the team, and they are mostly first and second year players. They are great at small ball and manufacturing runs. With a combined team salary about the same as Arod's alone, it is impressive what they have been able to do.

Having been a Yankee fan since I was a tyke I see that a lot of the problem they have over the years is their front office AND distinct lack of a viable player development program.THey spend multi millions to purchsase stars of yesterday.A-Rod and Jeter are stars of yesteryear.I hope they have some youth and consistent players in their minor league teams because they desperately need them immediately.

Thats always been their program. Buy superstars to win championships now. Worry about the future later. They never really had a player developement program. Relying on the home run to win games works for a while but when bats go cold you are in deep trouble. Just like what happened in the post season. It fell apart quickly. Average was .184, almost negligable home runs. The Yankees did not have the capability to put runners on base and move them a base at a time to score runs. A-Rod was good in the regular season, everyone was terrible in the post season but he became the scapegoat the insyant Girardi sat him.

10-19-12, 6:11 pm PST. Giants trying to climb out of the hole to win against St. Louis. Do or die tonight AND do or die tomorrow night.

Definitely post season torture. I miss Jon Millar, Mike Krukow, Duane Kuiper, and Dave Fleming call the game. TBS announcers are substandard, evern for AAA. Bah.

Zito was fun to watch tonight. I really liked his bunt hit with two outs to score the Giants 4th run. He saw the 3rd baseman deep and tried for it. That's good baseball. He also got some pretty good defense from his guys tonight as well. Hopefully the Giants can turn this into a three game streak.

I am with you Schultzy. Like Scutaro, Pagan and others, Zito knows how to play a good game of baseball. They won with a smiggen of good luck.

They will need lots of patience and good defense/offense on Sunday, 10-21-12.

And, AND, if even if they win the pennant, the Tigers are going to be tough, tough, tough.

Go Gigantes !!!

Yeah, the Tigers have a great lineup, and their starting pitching is incredible. Their only weakness is that bullpen.

The Giants are looking good! One more game....

I think part of my cheering for the Giants is how the Cardinals, two years in a row, snatched my post season hopes from my Braves. They definitely play their best baseball at the end of the season. It makes me mad.

The pennant is on the line. Giants and Cards in a short while.

I agree with you Suz.. I had high hopes for Chipper's last year playing.

The Giants sure like drama. They could have spread out those nine runs throughout the series and finished a little quicker.
