Im not really sure how i missed this but im lucky i got my application in extremely early. Apparently the Department im applying for is only taking 125 apps. This doesnt seem like alot at all and i think with my clean background/drugs/physical fitness it may push me over the top with that little of people. Especially if i ace the test. Has anyone heard of Departments only taking this little of them? I have to think alot are gonna get eliminated early just like at any test and 125 isnt much.

They likely have a a pool of applicants the 125 that they are building, but may only have 3-5 positions to fill. Depends on their budget and it is a process of elimination as an applicant progresses through the process, so that is why they build such a large pool. Good luck in your endeavor...

How many officers does this agency currently have?

How's that HOPE and CHANGE working out for you?

What would you do for a Klondike bar?

They have 25. I just thought 125 applicants was a bit low i mean you are definetly cutting your search for the right candidate kind of low?? Usually 50+ cant pass the agility alone.

Sometimes, they already have selected candidates in mind but have to announce to the public just to be fair and avoid potential lawsuits.

You do not say what state you reside in and the department(s) with whom you have applied and or tested with.  In today's economy, pretty much EVERY department has very few openings or positions to fill, the smaller departments like you describe, even fewer.  Even in good times, the applicants to positions available is extremely high.  Many of the 125 won't pass the written test or the physical agility test.  Out of those that do, many more will fail the oral board interview.  The balance will be what will go through the background process.  This will usually take a field that started out at 125 down to about 15 or less.  As I stated in your other thread...... until you can say to me that you can not remember how many times you have tested and with how many departments you have tested with, put yourself through the police academy on your own dime as a self-sponsored / pre-service cadet over a span of approximately 15 years....... we have nothing to talk about.  If you want it bad enough, you will pursue it.  You will be relentless in your pursuit until you have reached your goal.  Frustrating?  Oh, H-E-L-L yes!!!!!! Discouraging?  See the previous answer.  Again the question is and will remain, How bad do you want this?  You must decide and act accordingly, no matter how long it takes.

I think departments advertise which my be a guideline of EEOC. Keep in mind when rejected an agency does not have to give you a reason. While chief I would send correspondence informing applicants we could not offer a position. If the applicant would call I would advise them to refer to the correspondence. Please respond with your age, level of education and if you have prior military. I am curious. Thanks in advance.
